Otters Add Four from NAIA Schools

Four more players will be coming to Johnson City from schools across the NAIA. The group consists of one defender, and three attacking players. The NAIA has provided the Otters with some of their most reliable players that top the record books, including Alexis Castillo and Torge Wiedenroth.

First is Nathan Ashburn is another player to join the Otters from Reinhardt University down in Georgia. The English centerback played over 1,200 minutes for one of the best defenses in all of the NAIA, led by former Otters goalkeeper Torge Wiedenroth. The Eagles won the AAC Tournament and reached the NAIA Tournament before falling to top seed William Carey.

The Otters have also signed Spanish midfielder Sergio Infantes from the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. In his first season with the Patriots, Infantes finished second on the team in minutes (1,367), first in shots (79), shots on goal (40), and assists (7). Infantes also scored five goals.

Marvin Made is another Patriot that will be relied on in the Otters attack this summer. The 6’8” forward from the Netherlands led the Cumberlands attack by scoring 13 goals over 15 games and also added an assist. Made also finished second on the team in shots (61) and shots on goal (33) behind Infantes.

One final signing from the NAIA level is midfielder Callum Malanaphy. The English sophomore was a part of the best attack in the entire NAIA at the University of Rio Grande (Ohio). The Red Storm averaged 5.19 goals per game, a whole goal more than the next closest team. Malanaphy primarily came off the bench and recorded nine goals and an assist.
